Our Education The Block

Our education the block

For how long do we ignore the unrest in our children? Beginning from the early school years our institutions of imparting education have become such commercial units, on one hand they so called prepare the child for the competitive world and at the same time making the child hollow of emotions and empty of any of their personal dreams. Today when I look at a child all I see one question Why? With a glint of smile and huge blankness in the eyes. They are all the time facing assessments at school, expected to by heart and crunch their little brains with information from google and of course the high-level books that the teachers present to them in the class each day. All of this leaves very little time for play and creativity. With all of this, some of them come out as very strong individuals who want to be on the top of the world in everything they do. Some of them average it out and many are at the category of being hardly noticed and some of them want to fade away to oblivion. With such huge differences in their mental and physical states what kind of a society are we building for tomorrow? Are we really building children with a self-sustaining inner strength or allowing them to be emotionally vulnerable human beings? To add to all this the adults around the little ones are exposing them to useful and mandatory tools and technology. IPad and Tablet fill the empty spaces in the child's life on a day to day basis while the parents are struggling with their work life and emotional complications. Breakfast time is replaced by ever urgent early morning global meetings, lunches are of course business discussions and deal closures and dinners are lonesome self-indulged tailor-made diet plans with little or no conversations and are usually spent with IPhone, Smart phone and TV sets catching up with the world business news, gossip of separation's and ugly divorces and of course some additional drama from famous soap opera production houses. And ending the night with a glass of vodka or whisky to forget the pains of the day. Right next door there is probably a seven year old crying since he was abused by a loved one or put down at school for not submitting a homework or project. Just when they need a friend they hear the adults say not now let's catch up on weekend. There is a teenager who is already dealing with teenage issues and on the way to self-discovery becomes a porn addict. What happened to all those lively mornings when the day ended in family dinners where the adults and children shared their daily activities and stories of the day encountered by them? Post dinner family friends dropping over for a coffee and all kids huddled in bedrooms dozing off with play and stories.

With every sun rise there is a new hope to live for every living creature but how many of us are really awake or will awaken to the REAL world.

Just my thoughts!!!
